Who doesn’t love a good spa day? My little Muffin man was in for a treat when we arrived at Baby Spa Australia in Bayside. I had visited Baby Spa Australia with Poppet when she was just a few weeks old, and was delighted when we were invited back to visit again.
Baby Spa Australia is hydrotherapy and massage for babies, a truly relaxing experience for both parents and babies.
When you arrive at the day spa you’ll fill in a comprehensive medical questionnaire; alerting the staff to any particular needs your baby might have; particularly if they were prem or unwell at birth. The staff are midwives, nurses, massage therapists and have all had extensive training in regards to handling our little babies. I’m a midwife myself, and wouldn’t be handing my baby over unless I felt 100% comfortable…. and I did!

Next up time to weigh your baby and get them into a swim nappy ready to dive in. The staff take over from this point on, making sure your baby is happy and the swim nappy fitting well.
We attended when Muffin was 11 weeks old, so he went into the larger size pool which is for babies 8 weeks+ and set to 34.5 degrees. He had a blast!! Kicking, smiling, splashing about he was living his best life.

The floatie, called the Droplet, sits on his shoulders, supporting him. It has passed all Australian safety standards. It may look uncomfortable in the photos, but in person it didn’t bother him at all. Babies will spend 10-30 minutes splashing about, and the staff are watching on carefully to make sure they are ok. Muffin’s therapist told me than 10 minutes of splashing in this way for a baby is the same as an hour of exercise for an adult, so they can tire quickly.
After about 12 minutes we took his ring off and he continued to have a little swim while being supported.

Then it was massage time #jealousofababy . Using cold pressed grape seed oil Muffin got a full body massage and was content throughout. Lucky boy!
