Like everyone else we are stuck (safe!) at home. Each day I’m trying to do one fun thing with my girls; whether that’s baking, or a new activity or last week make amazing fairy gardens!
We were sent two fairy gardens from Whimsy and Wild Creates and all three of us were so impressed and had a ball making them.
Kath from Whimsy and Wild Creates puts together these DIY fairy garden kits; which come as fairy gardens, unicorn gardens or dinosaur gardens. Because my kids are crazy (and I’m not) I got two of the same; two fairy gardens.
It probably took them each about at hour to get them all sorted and they’ve been playing with them every day since.
The kit comes with everything you’ll need and can be seen here. So my girls donned on their gardening gloves, got their tiny shovels and we were away.
Next step was planting the two succulents that came with each kit. I loved that there was a living element in this garden, not just ornamental. Kath includes a little instruction card too, explaining to only water once a week or fortnight, so I think we can manage that.
Next up was decorating. It was extremely difficult for me to sit back and let them go for it but I did my best. My 2yo needed a little help with the tiny rocks so she choose the colours and pointed out where they should go. My 5yo was passionately independent! Both did great!
All in all a super fun at home activity to keep your kids happy, outside and entertained…plus with a bonus element of play and something to care for and look after. Highly recommend one of these fairy, unicorn or dinosaur gardens if your kids are in need of a new project!
