First guest post is up! Thanks Pauline for sharing your story from Sandown….
If you are thinking of heading out to the Supercars at Sandown this weekend don’t think just go! There is so much to see and do for everyone especially the kids. There is an abundance of free parking at the gate 2 entrance, which is where the LEGO play zone is located.
The crew from the army and navy are set up in the same area and they are so much fun, the kids get to jump into the vehicles and have some fun pretending – what little kid doesn’t love pushing buttons (and in my boys case making exploding noises as they destroy the enemy).
If you are into vintage cars there is no shortage of those under the grandstand just next to the main entrance.
Feeling hungry? No worries take your pick of the huge variety of food trucks around or pack a picnic lunch and have a seat in the grandstand as you watch the cars race around. They’re loud, fast and spectacular (if you’re bringing little ones, ear muffs might be a good idea). There is something exciting about seeing the race cars in person opposed to watching them do laps on the TV.
The atmosphere is unreal! Lots of memorabilia and merchandise available as you wonder around and opportunities to have your belonging signed by drivers (pay attention to the signage for times).
We couldn’t resist a (long) play at the hot wheels set up. Lots of merchandise for sale from clothing items to cars which were a bargain 2 hot wheel cars for $5. You bet we picked ourselves up some of them!
Overall our day at Sandown definitely exceeded any expectations I had about Supercars being just for car enthusiasts. Close, easy, and lots of fun.
