Yay it is School Holiday time. I’m away with the family to Europe, but I couldn’t leave without sharing a few of my fave adventure ideas for the holidays!
Here’s the categories… something for each day…
FREE: Zilch, zip, nada. This activity has no charge associated.
FIVER: Anything that costs more than $0 up to $10 per child/person
FANCY: Maybe choose one or two of these activities for special treats. They will cost you at least $10 each.
Click on the title of each for more info and/or to book. Keep in mind many of these events run over multiple days so don’t feel locked in to the dates below.

The First Week
Ok…the sun is shining, the birds and singing, you’re not too broke yet!
Monday 24th Sep
FREE: Under the Sea Craft
Bunjil Place library is hosting an under the sea story session followed by some craft activities. If it is a sunny day pack a change of clothes for the water play outside the library too.
FIVER: Donut decorating at Krispee Kremes
For $6.50 you get two original glazed donuts and all the toppings to go to town! Plus a bonus hat and balloon….woo hoo!
FANCY: See PJ Masks at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival
Heaps of great entertainment both weeks of the school holidays. PJ Masks in week one, Peter Rabbit in week two. Kids free! We went last year, take a read
Tuesday 25th Sep
FREE: Toddler Art and Craft
Pakenham library will have special toddler art activities (because who wants to glitter at home?). Right by the library is the newly renovated (late 2017) John Street Playground. Worth a look if you haven’t been before.
FIVER: Kids Sports Day at The Old Cheese Factory
Wear your team colours and head to Berwick for live entertainment and pop up activities. Cafe and great playground on site too. Entry is a gold coin donation.
FANCY: Jurassic Creatures
Jurassic Creatures, is an interactive walk through event that will captivate young and old alike. Explore an ancient world full of animatronic dinosaurs. Get ready to be amazed and thrilled as the greatest creatures ever to walk the earth return and come alive before your eyes.
Wednesday 26th Sep
FREE: Design a Footy Bun
Head to Baker’s Delight at Chirnside Park to create a bun in your team’s colours.
FIVER: Treasure Hunt in Baxter
Follow the Clues and solve the riddles at Harvest Baxter.
FANCY: Superhero Train
All aboard! Don on your superhero best and take a ride on the Mornington Railway
Thursday 27th Sep
FREE: Trolls Show
Casey Central are having the Trolls put on a show twice a day during the first week of the holidays (Monday to Thursday). There’s a great playground at the shopping centre too if you want to really make a day of it (and another excellent one just across the road).
FIVER: Little Red Train
At Wilson Botanic Gardens in Berwick there is a little red train choo-chooing about. Catch a ride for $6 if you’re 3+ or for free if 0-2 (adults ride for $6 too)
FANCY: Acro Kids
Is your kid driving you crazy? Let them get out some energy in this Acro workshop in Mount Eliza! Or why not try their Ninja workshop too! School Holiday Workshops
Friday 28th Sep
FREE: Paper Planet
Head to Cranbourne Botanic Gardens to craft and let your imagination run wild in this planet made of paper and natural materials from the Gardens. Loads of play spaces within the gardens too. CHeck out my blog all about it here.
FIVER: Sky High
Excellent free activities on everyday at Sky High, but there is a $7 per car parking fee. Check out all the activities here.
FANCY: The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show
All tickets are $16 at Bunjil Place to see your favourite caterpillar come alive. We’ve seen this show and it is particularly good for younger children as the show covers four short stories within the hour session.
The Second Week

Monday 1st Oct
FREE: Meet Tinkebelle!
Head to Karingal Hub for stories with Tink and craft activities too
FIVER: Stuff a bear for $8
Head to Somerville Central for this school holiday bear making activity. There will be eight different designs to choose from including dragons, cats and jungle animals. No pre booking required. We did this last school holidays; expect a bit of a queue.
FANCY: Design a handbag at MYER
Aimed at kids 3-12 you get to design a handbag and/or necklace on an ipad then have it made up for you in real time. There’s a photo wall and fun props to really get your pose on afterwards. You can prebook, or just rock up to selected Myer locations. Handbags are $39.95, and necklaces are $19.95 or you can do both for $49.95. We went last holidays… take a read here
Tuesday 2nd Oct
FREE: Hot Wheels Activity Zone
There’s the Stack Track – build, interact and create, Hot Wheels colouring in and Hot Wheels interactive games and activities.
FIVER: Meet the Farm Animals.
Spend the morning out at Green Olive in Red Hill. Meet the animals, have a farm tour and maybe stay for a cheeky wine! Green Olive even has in-ground trampolines so your kids will love it. Gold coin donation to support Riding for the Disabled Mornington Peninsula.
FANCY: Giggle & Hoot’s Hootastic Concert
Giggle & Hoot are going on tour! Sing, stomp and roar to all the hits in the brand new show! On at Frankston on the 2nd, but touring all over.
Wednesday 3rd Oct
FREE: Meet Dirtgirl
Kids can come along for a meet & greet with Dirtgirl and while they’re here they can decorate their very own eco-friendly pot and plant their very own herbs that they can take home.
FIVER: Casey Safety Village
Bring your bikes and scooters and let your kids learn about road safety at the safety village. We go every holidays and love it. Bookings essential.
FANCY: Vjunior Southland, Fountain Gate , Knox, Highpoint and Sunshine!
Visit the “Gold Class” of children’s cinemas these school holidays.
Thursday 4th Oct
FREE: Puppet Circus at Doveton Library
Roll up, Roll up! Come and see the hilariously funny puppet show, ‘Circus in Disarray’! Lots of fun puppets performing live circus skills!
FIVER: Farm Art
Go down to Harvest Café to create your own piece of nature inspired farm art! $10 per child (includes activity and a kids hot chocolate at the end)
FANCY: Wonderland at ACMI
Wander through the magic of Wonderland! Walk your way through over 40 years worth of film and television versions of Alice’s tale, with lots of interactive bits for kids too. Closes this October!!
Friday 5th Oct
FREE: Fairies, Frogs and Flutterbys
Make a small garden fit for a frog, butterfly or even a backyard fairy. Take time to explore the magic of the Australian Bush by taking a nature walk and bring your own BBQ picnic lunch to enjoy at the picnic tables.
FIVER: Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs Pantomime Show
Introduce your kids to the world of puppets with these two classic tales. All tickets $10
FANCY: Transformers Show and Meet and Greet at Lollipops!
Just tipping over the $10 scales (entry is $10.90 if your child is over 3), head to Lollipops Noble Park for a play and a Transformers Show including in your entry. Use Small Ideas for 50% off!
