Yay it is School Holiday time. No packed lunches, no school runs, just lazy days and no commitments. But if you are after adventure hopefully this guide will help. Something to do each day; either free or a little bit fancy! Enjoy!
The First Week
Ok…you’re feeling enthusiastic. The weather is nice, your kids are perhaps still full of chocolate, but that’s ok. Grab your sun hat and your umbrella, because #Melbourne and let’s go!
Monday 2nd April
FREE: Meet the Farm Animals.
Spend the morning out at Green Olive in Red Hill. Meet the animals, have a farm tour and maybe stay for a cheeky wine! Green Olive even has in-ground trampolines so your kids will love it.
FANCY: Melbourne Easter Show
Held in Cranbourne this fab show does boast free entry, but you’ll need a bit of cash for rides and an Easter Egg Hunt.
Tuesday 3rd April
FREE: Luke the Magician at Bunjil Place
Free magic show for all ages! If it’s a nice day bring a change of clothes as there is a fun water play area just outside Bunjil Place in the courtyard.
FANCY: Boneo Maze and Mini Golf
A beautiful place to grab a hot chocolate, with plenty of outdoor fun for the kids. The adventure zone is open for the holidays and looks like lots of fun for bigger kids (additional charges apply). No need to book, just turn up for fun on bungee tramps, quad tramps, pedal boats and the rock climbing wall! Plenty of activities for the little ones too. A great day out!
FREE: Toddler Disco!
Best for ages 1-3, put on your dancing shoes and your sparkly tutus and head to Bunjil Place.
FANCY: Donut decorating at Krispee Kremes
For $5.95 you get two original glazed donuts and all the toppings to go to town! Plus a bonus hat and balloon….woo hoo!
Thursday April 5th
FREE: The Hungry Caterpillar is in Karingal
Visit Karingal Hub to do caterpillar craft and complete a scavenger hunt!
FANCY: Get Baking at Eastland
For $5 (money donated to the Alannah and Madeline Foundation) enroll your kids in a cooking workshop. Today is emoji face cookies but there’s plenty to choose from.
Friday 6th April
FREE: Beach Treasure Hunt
Junior Ranges Victoria host a TONNE of free activities in the School Holidays. Today is a rockpool exploring session at Ricketts Point. Bookings essential.
The Second Week
You are half way there. Enjoy the thrill of PJs and no school runs. But if you still have the energy let’s adventure some more!
FREE: Meet Paw Patrol!
Head to Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre to meet Chase and do some Paw Patrol crafting.
Tuesday April 10th
FREE: Babies Sensory Time
Held at Cranbourne Library you can engage your baby with scarves, songs and shakers.
FANCY: Little Monsters Day Out at The Old Cheese Factory
Come along to the Old Cheese Factory dressed as a little monster, or with your favourite monster toy and join in for a fun-filled adventure. There will be music and craft, so pack a picnic and enjoy a day out. Entry is a gold coin donation.
Wednesday 11th April
FREE: National Gallery of Victoria
If you haven’t been to the NGV before you are missing out. There are always wonderful kid friendly, interactive exhibitions and you can BYO picnic! Cafe on site too for all your caffeine needs.
FANCY: Cupcake Decorating at Cranbourne Botanic Gardens
We’ve done the School Holiday workshops here before and they are super cheap and super fun. This time decorate your cupcake for only $2. Bookings required. Afterwards stay and play in the water or in one of the many varied playspaces around the gardens. read more here.
Thursday 12th April
FREE: Minibeast Discovery
Another great one from Junior Ranges; this time discovering bugs at Braeside Park. Bookings essential.
FANCY: Casey Safety Village
Bring your bikes and scooters and let your kids learn about road safety at the safety village. We go every holidays and love it. Bookings essential.
Friday 13th April
FREE: Science Workshop for kids!
Held At Carrum Downs Library this free workshop will show kids how fun science can be. Free but bookings required.
FANCY: Marvel S.T.A.T.I.O.N. experience
Immerse yourself in the Marvel World. As a training agent of S.T.A.T.I.O.N. you can train like an Avenger and delve into the science, history, engineering, genetics and technology behind your favourite Super Heroes. My fellow blogging friend Erica over at Kidtown visited recently. Have a read here
