Emerald Lake Rd,
Emerald VIC

What a beautiful day out we had at Emerald Lake Park. A stop on Puffing Billy, but also a park worth visiting in it’s own right I’ll run you through somethings we really loved during our visit.

There’s a pool within the lake! This wading pool is perfect for kids as it isn’t too big or too deep, and it is right within the lake itself. Entry to the pool is free, but entry times can be limited due to the time of the year and the weather. I always love finding a free spot for water play!

There is also a kids playground that is small but adequate, and a more substantial work out circuit for older kids/aspiring adults. We mainly spent our time at the younger child/traditional play space.

Around the grounds there are many places to walk to feel like you’re getting back to nature, many with natural shade too.

The paddleboats were a hit during our visit, although Missy Moo had to sit this one out as the activity is recommended for ages three and up (she’s two). Life jackets are provided and two people ride in a paddleboat at a time. Prices start from $15 for 15 minutes, but be warned, you can’t pay with card and there is no ATM on site.

Fortunately the café on site DOES take card so we were able to cool off with an ice cream after we had finished exploring the grounds. The café had indoor and outdoor seating and was well priced….great ice cream selection too (by the scoop and pre made stick ones also).

As you can see above there is a Model Railway to visit (paid) but we didn’t check that out this time. If you have a tiny train enthusiast though you can read more about that here.

Other things to note…

You have to pay for parking at Emerald Lake Park. A daily ticket was $6 and you can pay cash or card at the ticket machine.

There are plenty of picnic tables around or BYO rug and find a spot in the shade. Beware of the hungry, fearless birds!!

We had a lovely day out at Emerald Lake Park and will definitely plan another picnic day there in the future….after Missy Moo turns three and can try out the paddleboats.
