Anyday Adventures

Whether you like free adventures, or something a little fancy (paid), here’s my list of twenty things to do these school holidays to suit every budget. So rug up, grab a hot chocolate and embrace the holidays this Winter.

The First Week
Ok…you’re feeling ready, let’s do this!

Monday 3rd July
FREE: Meet the Farm Animals.
Spend the morning out at Green Olive in Red Hill. Meet the animals, have a farm tour and maybe stay for a cheeky wine! Green Olive even has in-ground trampolines so your kids will love it.

FANCY: The Big Freeze
Fantastic Winter festival in Narre Warren for just the first week of the holidays. Read my blog post above or book tickets here.

Tuesday 4th July
FREE: Toddler Discos at Narre Warren or Cranbourne
Run by the City of Casey libraries these discos are heaps of fun for kids under three.

FANCY: Casey Safety Village
Bring your bikes and scooters and let your kids learn about road safety at the safety village.

Wednesday 5th July
FREE: Moana Movie Night
BYO pillows and doonas and snuggle down to watch this new Disney musical.

FANCY: Harry Potter Potions Class and a ride on the “Hogwarts Express”
The Little Shop of Horrors Costumery will be running Harry Potter themed workshops (and free story time) Saturdays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the holidays. However, head down on a Wednesday as the Mornington Railway has some extra plans for your witches and wizards.

Thursday 6th July
FREE: Despicable Me 3 Craft Village
Running everyday this week, head to Fountain Gate to meet some minions and make your own minion out of clay!

FANCY: Make your own Fairy or Dinosaur Garden
Hosted by Blossom Kids at The Hungry Peacock, these session look like heaps of fun. Basic or deluxe options available.

Friday 7th July
FREE: Movie Night… “Sing”
Lynbrook Community Centre will be hosting a movie and…wait for it….a sausage sizzle! Mark this one in your diaries.

FANCY: Vjunior Southland or Fountain Gate (NEW)
Visit the “Gold Class” of children’s cinemas these school holidays.

The Second Week
You might be starting to count down the days until holidays are over. Never fear, there is a heap more to keep you busy.

Monday 10th July
FREE: Minions Dance Party
Head down to Waverley Gardens shopping centre to party with your fave minions

FANCY: Boneo Maze and Mini Golf
A beautiful place to grab a hot chocolate, with plenty of outdoor fun for the kids. The food is amazing go check it out…

Tuesday 11th July
FREE: Day Out at Fed Square… showing Trolls.
Fed Square have a heap of free activities for kids over the holidays. Free day time movies, and Screen Worlds too (also free)

FANCY: Farmer for a Day at The Big Goose
Go be a farmer for a day! You will have an actioned packed day helping behind the scenes and learning about all the animals that are found at The Big Goose.

Wednesday 12th July
FREE: Meet Elmo and Cookie Monster
We’re excited! Head to Cranbourne Park to meet your favourite Sesame Street characters. Bonus: This shopping centre has a good indoor play area too.

FANCY: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
The Frankston Arts Centre are showing the live stage show of this classic children’s book. We went a few months ago and had a great time.

Thursday 13th July
FREE: Frozen Story Time
Head to Doveton library for Frozen sing a longs, stories and crafts.

FANCY: McClelland Gallery
Create a Sculpture with hot glue, and then spray paint your finished work of art. Then stroll the grounds with a hot chocolate while your masterpiece dries.

Friday 14th  July
FREE: Family Fun Day
So many free activities at Frankston for this family day out. Free face painting, petting zoo, hair salon, entertainment, arts and crafts and loads more.

FANCY: Ice Skating at Sorrento
Live on the Peninsula but want to get your skate on? You’re in luck. This pop up ice skating rink will be in Sorrento throughout the School Holidays.

Other honourable mentions these school holidays include:

• The Junior Ranges Program (Free)
  Get out and about in nature, and be guided through rock pools, wildlife, local flora, and bugs. Events throughout Victoria.
• Disney Presents Frozen on Ice (Fancy)
  Fantastic show coming to Melbourne for a limited time only.
• Mt Donna Buang (Free)
  Tobogganing tracks and plenty of snow play. BYO toboggan or rent on site.
